Thoughts on a FALL LEAGUE:
Premise: to offer a second season of perhaps mixed up teams for fun and to see if a draft might be beneficial to the league.
"I think it would be a great idea to have a fall league. It can help us players improve and teach fundamentals to new and old players."
"Weather won't be so hot. Hopefully the season wouldn't be too long with holidays etc."
"I think we need a fall league to help recruit some new guys for our league. I also think it holds our league back by not having a fall league when most of our competitor cities do."
Thoughts on a DRAFT:
Premise: to attempt to mix up the teams to create more competition, new friendships and new teams to help grow the league.
"I'm kinda torn. If I were forced to into a draft I would participate but I would miss my team. Then again it would be fun to see how the teams shaped up."
"I'm okay with a variation, starting with maybe two or three core and picking from there."
"I think that draft would be a good idea. It not only freshens teams but also gives the opportunity to make new and better teams. As well as having the ability to meet other people."
"A draft would be cool and possibly expose people to new individuals, but there is also a cost of uniforms to be considered. Which everyone is not financially able to continuously change each year."
"If we do a fall league and we have a draft for that I will be all for it. I think it will hurt our spring/summer league more than it will help."
Thoughts on moving players rated a '10' to 'C' Division in 2009:
Premise: to move solid 'D' players up to 'C' to build 'C' division, to become better inline with NAGAAA ratings and direction, to improve the players themselves and to help create more teams in general. The thought is to move all '14' to 'B' in 2010 after our league's 2-year agreement with Memphis ends.
General comments:
"MORE teams!!! We need to really get out there and get some more people!"
"We need more coaches! The number of teams in the league depends upon the number of coaches. Require NEW coaches to start new teams. The more teams we have, the cheaper it becomes to play ball. Also, have after game parties at one spec bar per week (rotation each Sunday)."
"Could we not ask for every player to attempt to bring in one new player? Be an ambassador for the league."
"I think that we should have recruitment days where we have representatives from teams go to the local bars and have a table set up where we can recruit new players. Not just the bars we know such as the Quest, Yacht Club, etc but there are other clubs/bars out there as well. We're trying to get the league to grow so we should explore all avenues."
